Horses Helping Humans
Horses Helping Humans
We are so glad that you are here! We love sharing the horses and they are partners in working with our clients. Every journey is as unique as the individual or group we have the privilege to welcome to the arena.
At The Stable Arena, we will collaborate with you to develop a plan for accomplishing your goals. We offer an individualized approach and together with the horses, we will provide a safe space where you can work at a pace that is comfortable for you. We will help you build on your strengths and add to your internal resource arsenal so you can focus on your path toward wellness and growth, achieving results in a way that you never knew was possible. We specialize in the practice of Arena EMDR therapy using the EquiLateral protocol.
Our training and experience is well-suited for a variety of customized services, including individual, couples, and family therapy, peer support training, corporate team building and leadership training. We will provide structure and guidance for an experience that is the right fit for you.
With horses as partners in treatment, Equine Assisted therapy, specifically Arena EMDR, offers an opportunity to work in a natural environment where building trust, connectedness, and confidence occurs organically.
Individuals have an inherent personal power to heal when they are able to access their inner strengths and be present. We can help you accomplish this in a neutral safe space, listening to your concerns, and customizing a treatment plan for you.
The presence of horses helps the nervous system to re-tune and
re-balance. Horses are social animals that are accepting, non-judgmental and responsive to human interactions. Horses have the ability to recognize and react to human emotions and help us look at ourselves in a new light.
Equine Assisted Learning creates an atmosphere that is fun, safe and inspires an openness to trying new things. When working together as a team, everyone has an opportunity to participate at their comfort level and engage with colleagues in an action-oriented setting. Learning is enhanced through this experiential approach.
The Stable Arena is especially skilled in working with first responders, veterans, active duty military, public safety and medical professionals and their families. We understand that while line of duty exposure to trauma is "part of the job," there is an impact on the brain when it is on "high alert" consistently and for prolonged periods of time. These effects can show up in any part of your life.
Sometimes we can clearly connect trauma to a specific incident or set of circumstances, such a a violent crime, childhood abuse or neglect, rape, critical incidents, or combat. However, we recognize that trauma is not always obvious. It can come from middle school bullying, car accidents, abandonment, loss of caregivers, loved ones or pets, family stress, and even exposure through television or online to overwhelming and violent incidents. Any adverse life events can affect the brain's wiring and neuropathways, resulting in negative thoughts, feelings, and reactions that seem outside of our control.
"If we are not a little bit uncomfortable every day, we’re not growing. All the good stuff is outside our comfort zone." – Jack Canfield
Experiential team building and leadership opportunities are a great way to offer a safe and supportive space for participants to face challenges, adapt and adjust, and witness the value of each team member to the process. Equine Assisted Learning offers exposure to new situations with a focus on how to problem-solve and engage effectively with others. We will work with your team or organization to design a customized program to achieve your goals.
